Mobile Configuration

Configuring Mobile Access

If you plan on utilizing Office 365 e-mail on your mobile device, you will need to first delete the existing UCI outlook e-mail profile before adding your new Office 365 one. Depending on the mobile device that you have, use the information below to help you get setup.

Removing your existing Outlook profile

Android - Outlook App

  1. Go to Applications > Outlook. The Email screen will open.
  2. On the Email screen, bring up the settings menu and tap Accounts. The Accounts screen will open.
  3. Press and hold the Exchange Account you want to delete until the Menu window opens.
  4. On the Menu window, click Remove Account. A Remove Account warning window will open.
  5. On the Remove Account warning window, tap OK or Remove Account to finish. You have successfully deleted your Exchange account.

Apple iOS - Outlook App

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. The Accounts screen will open.
  2. On the Accounts screen, tap the Exchange Account you want to remove.
  3. Scroll down and click Delete Account. A Delete Account warning window will open.
  4. On the Delete Account warning window, click Delete Account to finish. You have successfully deleted your Exchange account.

Apple iOS - Mail App

  1. Open Apple Mail.
  2. Click Mail on the top menu bar and then Preferences. The Preferences window will open.
  3. In the Preferences window, click Accounts. The Accounts window will open.
  4. In the Accounts window, click the Exchange Account you want to delete, then click the minus sign (-). A Remove warning window will open.
  5. In the Remove warning window, click Remove or OK to finish. You have successfully deleted your Exchange account.

Apple iOS Calendar

  1. Open Apple Calendar.
  2. Click Calendar on the top menu bar and then Preferences. The Preferences window will open.
  3. In the Preferences window, click Accounts. The Accounts window will open.
  4. In the Accounts window, click the Exchange Account you want to delete, then click the minus sign (-) below. A Remove warning window will open.
  5. In the Remove warning window, click Remove to finish. You have successfully deleted your Exchange account.

Set up email in the Outlook for Android app

If you're having trouble using the Outlook for Android mobile app, Open an in-app Outlook support ticket.

If you have a work or school account that uses Office 365 for business or Exchange-based accounts, there may be additional requirements set by your IT admin. For example, if you have a company-managed device, an on-premises Exchange server configured for basic authentication, or your company requires mobile app management for app protection. See the section Set up Outlook for Android with additional requirements below for specific instructions.

Set up Outlook for Android for the first time

Note: If you have a work account that requires the Intune Company Portal app, install it from the Google Play Store before setting up Outlook for Android. Your IT admin may or may not also require you to Enroll your Android device in Intune.

Install the Outlook for Android app from the Google Play Store and then open it.

Tap Get Started if this is your first time.

Otherwise, to add another email account, open the Menu > Settings > Add Account > Add Email Account. Then skip to step 4 under Set up another email account below.

Outlook may detect your Google accounts. To add them to Outlook for Android, tap Google Connect Account and then tap OK to confirm. Tap Allow to give Outlook access to your Contacts.

If you don't want to add these accounts, tap Skip and then go to step 4 under Set up another email account below..

Select the accounts you'd like to add and tap Add Account. You may be asked to sign in.

Tap Allow to confirm offline access and any other prompts.

To add another email account, tap Continue and go to Step 4, otherwise tap Skip.

Enter your full email address, then tap Continue.

Note: If you're asked to choose your provider, you'll have to Set up your Exchange manually or set up an IMAP or POP account.

Enter your email account password and tap Sign In or Next.

Note: The sign in screen may look different for you depending on your email provider.

If multi-factor authentication is enabled, verify your identity. For more information, see Security info overview.

 

Set up email in the Outlook for IOS app

Note: If you have a work account that requires the Intune Company Portal app, install it from the App Store before setting up Outlook for iOS. Your IT admin may or may not also require you to Enroll your iOS device in Intune »

Download Outlook for iOS from the iOS App Store and then open it. The icon looks like this:

If this is your first time using Outlook for iOS, enter your full email address, then tap Add Account.
If not, open the Menu > tap Settings > Add Account >Add Email Account.



If you're asked to select your email provider, please contact your IT admin for support as there may be a misconfiguration.

You can also set up your email account manually or use IMAP/POP.

Enter your email account password and tap Sign In.

Accept any prompts for permission you may receive.

Swipe through the features and you're now ready to use Outlook for iOS!


Set up an Office 365, Exchange, or Outlook.com email in the iOS Mail app

Go to your iPhone or iPad's Settings > scroll down and tap Accounts & Passwords > Add Account.
Note: If you're on iOS 10, go to Mail > Accounts > Add Account

.

Select Exchange

.

Enter your Office 365, Exchange, or Outlook.com email address and a description of your account. Tap Next.



Tap Sign In.

Validating mobile functionality

Once you have successfully added the new account, you will want to validate that it is correctly synchronizing your calendar, contacts and e-mail.

  1. Open the mail section of the app and ensure that your emails are syncing into the app.
  2. Open the Calendar and validate that all appointments, both singular and reoccurring are showing up correctly.
  3. If you elect to synchronize your contacts, open the contacts app on your phone and check to see if the new contacts coming from Outlook are showing up.
